It seems that UC2-Software-GIT contains only the most basic microscope-related controls, while ImSwitch is more focused on overall architecture design. I don’t quite understand the differences between the two, nor whether they are interchangeable with each other.

Indeed, the UC2-Software-Git is already pretty old and was used for the publication (A versatile and customizable low-cost 3D-printed open standard for microscopic imaging | Nature Communications). ImSwitch is a fork from Xavier and follows the modular nature of our system: openUC2 · GitHub
There is a lot development going on at the moment. If you have a particular question, please don’t hesitate to ask anything you want;-)
